One of Those Moms

Yup, I am one of THOSE moms.  What kind of mom is that you ask?  The kind that takes their feverish, hacking, snuffling family to the metropolis of the world, Walmart!  Yes I did!! Why do you ask?

#1:  After a week of high fevers, sniffling, hacking, and no sleep we ran out of ibuprofen.  And as anyone with children knows you should never, ever, ever, ever be without ibuprofen and/or acetaminophen in the house at all times or it will be 2am and your child is screaming with an ear ache and your hubby is running to the all-night walmart an hour away.  But, truth be told we had acetaminophen and we have a local drug store that would have been closer...

#2:  Being stuck at home all week I have been doing lots of blog hopping and pinterest which of course gets me all excited to start  "School" (we will see how that works out next week).  So, I have been printing off some printables which of course made the printer run out of ink.  Now, when our printer is out of one color it decides to just stop printing all together, which make no sense to me because we have plenty of black ink.  But there it sits until we drive the 30 minutes to the nearest office supply store to buy it more ink even though we purposely bought a printer that had individual ink cartigages so we only had to replace the ones that were out instead of all three at once... know what kind I mean?!  But I digress... we needed ink for our printer, still not a really great reason but it was a reason

#3:  Prince Charming's parents return from a 6-week rescue mission with the west coast's.  (Long story... maybe for another post).  They need at least milk, eggs, bread and cereal since they don't arrive until 11:30pm tonight.  Yes, if you are wondering, Prince Charming will be meeting them at the airport.  Again I digress, groceries, a little better reason

#4:  Sitting around has also caused me to rearrange a bit... check out my new picture wall.
But it was missing some pictures, so I worked on going through some photos to fill in the blanks.  Photos are my "ahh" moments in life, and trust me I needed those moments this week.  In my mind, a really good reason to justify going out.

#5:  Tomorrow is corned beef and cabbage at our house and I forgot it two weeks ago in my normal shopping trip.  It is also St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the girls classrooms and I am sincerely hoping that everyone is healthy enough to go so I am preparing rainbow cupcakes for the classrooms... wanna see?

(Mine will have all six colors though)  So this is my best reason for going to the store with sick kids...

Ok, now you are with me as to my logical way of thinking... let's go to Walmart together!  While in the store I have running through my brain a friend of mine's recent blog post, which you can find here.(she is much better writer than me and inspiration for this post.)  So here is what we look like in Walmart...
Yes, I bribed the kiddos with McDonalds.  It kept them quiet for a whole 20 minutes.  I walked straight to the photo center with all my photos on a memory stick so all I had to do was print one of every photo (all edited and prepared at home), then run around and pick up the items on my list and pack them around the sick kids hoping they don't squish the bread or crack the eggs.  Then to the checkout counter, telling the kiddos they can't have candy cause I already bought them a happy meal, and lady with screaming toddler (who I tried to smile at as reassuring as possible).  Whew! Made it out of there and practically ran for the door, which was too fast for the groceries on the tray at the bottom so when I hit the pavement my groceries went hither and yon all over the parking lot which of course stopped traffic.  (See I still have the ability to stop traffic)  I run after my milk and corned beef while waving apologetically to the cars and throw the wayward groceries in the cart on top of my sick 8 year old daughter then pile into the car (literally) and head home.

Was it all worth it?  For one hour out of the house, corned beef, and photos.  ABSOLUTELY!!  So, if your kids get sick this week after being in Walmart, go ahead and blame me, I can take it.
