Camping Theme

A few weeks back we did a mini-unit on camping, it was very simple and short because we had been camping and were going camping we decided to roll it into school. First we read some books about camping and we answered some questions about the books . Then we did a nature walk and collected items for our nature collage. Then we studied animal prints and made our own prints by painting our feet and stepping onto the paper so see how they were different. We wrapped this into our bible lesson and memory verse of creation and how we are all created differently. We finished by drawing different camping pictures and Princess #2 practiced the letter "c" and Princess #1 continued her phonics of "an" and "at" sounds and sounding out the words you make when you add a different letter on the front such as "s", "c", and "f". Of course the favorite was painting feet, daddy happened to have the day off too so we even got to paint his feet! That wrapped up our summer mini-lessons. We take next week off for the holiday and start just preschool with Princess #2. (sorry the pictures are blurry, the camera was on a night setting by accident)
