Grandparents Getaway Day #31

Kid's Lunch

Well... the ladies had their lunch so the kiddos get their time too! We had a great time finishing out our week off with a playdate and lunch with some of our favorite friends.

Summer Doings

As always in the great northeast good weather is short and sweet.  We had a few major events that I will highlight in a separate post (like the west coast Starks coming to visit) but as I sit here under a blanket sipping my hot tea I thought I would share with you all the happenings we crammed into the few short weeks of good weather.

Some of our BFFs

This is our food group.  We love to "do life" with these people.  We "formally" get together every few months to try new foods and play games together (a regular is Risk).  The thing is; it goes far beyond that.  Cause we talk/text/facebook/study... you name it.... all the time.  We raise our kids together, we go to church together, we go to school together, we do bible studies together, we pray for each other and everything in between.  Here they are...

The Young Ones:
These folks are raising the littlest next generation of our group (two little gentlemen and a little lady).  They recently built their own beautiful log cabin and the Mr. is heading up our church trustee board.  We have loved watching this couple become strong in the Lord.

The Doctor and the Boy Scout Mom:
These two are newbies to our group but have fit perfectly.  They are raising twin gentlemen and doing a wonderful job.  The Mr. is very busy with his own rural practice and the Mrs. is running alot of our church's ministries, some of which are, VBS, Woman's Banquets, women's events and much more!  While they may be the last to "join" they have become fast friends.

The Principal and the Mathematician
These two are a really busy pair.  The Mr. runs our local Christian school and the Mrs. works full time while going to school for accounting.  They are raising a teen lady and two little gentlemen.  They are one of the originals to the group and my prince charming has known the Mr. for most of his life.   We love their steadfast friendship throughout the years.

The Grandparents
These folks are grandparents for all our children after having successfully raised two gentleman and a lady.   They are full of wisdom and grace.  They both have a love of music and share their talents with us often.  They have had many struggles and challenges throughout their lives and we love them because of it.  Their love for the Lord is vivacious and we have learned a lot from them.  The Mrs. is one of the strongest prayer warriors that I know.

The Hosts
This couple is the originator of the group.  They have built their own beautiful home that they graciously open to us for our group and many more.  They are busy raising a teen lady and two other little ladies.  The Mr. is faithful to our church by running the Sunday School program, teaching, running  Men's Ministries, and any other need that arises. He is also one of Prince Charming's oldest and longest friend and mentor.  The Mrs. babysits her niece, teaches preschool, runs VBS, women's ministries, teaches Sunday School. They have been pillars of the church and we look up to their strength.

The Archeologist and the Accidental Mom
Yup you read right... we have a doctor and an archeologist in the same group... how cool is that?  He wouldn't say it is a glamorous job but I think it is cool.  They are raising a teen lady, another little lady, and two smaller gentleman.    And are you wondering why "accidental" mom, because in her life plans the ladies were all they were looking to have and look what God did... enriched their lives with two gentleman as well!  The Mrs. also teaches preschool in her spare time.  This is another family we have watched grow strong in the faith over the years and we are very proud to be a part of it.

The Missionaries
This family is the first we have watched go "afar."  The are serving the cold north and have made it their home.  We don't get to see them often but love them none the less.  They are working on bringing home their little lady (or ladies) to raise from the far east.  We are praying with them that this will happen sooner than later.  We have loved being a part of their journey north and watching them grow to love a culture that is not their own.  God is working mightly in their ministry.

The Crew... all of us! (minus the missionaries of course)

Every year at Christmas we create gingerbread houses.  Here are the 2012 creations.

Lazy Days of Summer... ya right!?!?!
